Dear parents and carers of YR 1,
Over the course of next week your child will take the national Phonics screen test, reading real and pseudo ‘alien’ words aloud using their phonics knowledge. This test is taken with a teacher known to your child at their own pace. It helps assess their knowledge of phonics and reading levels and informs us at school for any additional help they might need as they move into Year 2.
The pupils have been preparing for this in school and at home have been working with your child, supporting them with their reading and sound knowledge using the resources supplied.
This test is nothing to be concerned about and the leaflet attached gives further information. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask at the office or speak to a member of the KS1 team on the gate.
